End of Trainee Life. Start of a New Year & Job
As Y2010 draws to a close, I am glad I have planned my time rather well and made it a fulfilling year for myself.
I have been in the Army for exactly 8 months now and it is rather amusing to complain so much about it and yet derive so many wonderful recollections from it. I have made one whole bunch of interesting friends in the army mainly from BMT & BSLC, after spending 4 months together. While we are now in different vocations, serving the nations in different camps, we make it a point to still meet up for dinner and chat about those fun times, albeit they were barely months ago.
On the 17th Dec, I graduated as a 3rd Sergeant (Combat Engineer Specialist) Yup, the Sorting Hat has decided that I am most suitable as an Engineer for the next 14 months of my NSF life and 10 cycles of reservist. Fortunately I am posted HQ, which means I do admin/office work and I stay-out. This also means I won't get to see my peers that often as I will be working with all the high-ranking officers and admin personnel that I have never interacted with before. A good chance to hone my ability to handle and deal with people in an office environment. Looking forward to the challenges ahead and learning all about office protocols.
After a few months hiatus, I resumed learning driving in December and passed my Traffic Police Test last week. Now, I am a qualified Class 3A DRIVER! The thing is I still don't have the confidence to drive on public roads. Hopefully I will be able to find time to practice using my father's car in time to come.
2011 will be yet another hectic year. I hope to be able to find time and more importantly motivation to read up some books and plan for my future.
Happy New Year in advance.
