Explorer's and Connector's Week

Explorer's and Connector's Week

This week was one of the best weeks I had in 4 years.

Wednesday was Career Talk day. Basically we had talks after talks and no lessons! The first one was by the principal on her personal experiences, followed by another talk on pursuing further studies in Australia. I don’t think I would be going there anyway.

The first choice of my career choice was Banking and Financial. The person giving the talk used a lot of technical terms so it was quite hard to understand at first, I guess she can’t help it as business terms are naturally ‘chim’. But, we still thoroughly enjoyed listening to her workscope and investments choices. For the second session, seeing no one to accompany me for the engineering talk, I decided to “career-hop” to the entrepreneurs which was conducted by the very comical Mr Sim. I learnt a new term called ‘intra-preneurs’ and this job looked attractive enough, with the huge amounts of money involved.

Lastly, we had a closing address by Miss Singapore Universe. It was much anticipated and it was really unusual for a celebrity to be coming to our school. It was quite an experience for us as it is for her I guess. We got a sort of a inside look at the dark side of a glamorous competition. People are not what they seem to be.

Since Miss Tan is away at OBS, 4H got a relief English teacher. His name is Mr Dee and he is a SINHALESE. After learning so much about Sri Lanka, it was exciting being able to meet one real life. He is also a Chinese-speaking Tamil and was graduated from RV last time. So yeah he is super funny when we talk-cork with him during the last lesson. “I got so numb to racist jokes to the point I create them myself” LOL. I guess it must be cool to learning a foreign language instead of your own mother tongue. After a while, the talk became a little ‘side-tracked’ to his personal view on stuff so details cannot be disclosed here hah. Hmm, he is the kind of person who makes life a hell lot more interesting than it already is so I would probably remember him for quite a while.

Today was games day! Frank, Kenneth, Jiaqiang, Pinglin and I played captains ball. First game was against 4B and the second against 4J. The first game they kept jumping and falling into us super gaoxiao and we only won by 1 point in the dying seconds. The second game was easier although Kenneth was pretty traumatized throughout. Maybe because we won by a smaller margin so they gave us less points for it. In the end we got second place because 4J had super lots of points for the guessing game. But still, second place sounds good enough and we had fun. After that we had a ‘mini-celebration’ for Joseph’s Birthday. We had a sample of the Mai Ya Tang that we were suppose to sell on Heritage Day. I think we will have good business. Everyone also chipped in for the birthday cake. After that Mrs Look talked to us about some stuff and we were finally dismissed.

Time passes so quickly…. The last fun week spent in my soon-to-be alma matter and I definitely enjoyed it to the fullest.

Work as if you don't need money,

Love as if you've never been hurt,

Dance as if nobody can see you,

Sing as if no one can hear,

Live as if the Earth was a heaven.

2nd Week of School

Stage: Term 3 Week 2
Status: Completed

What a week it has been man... so basically many many things, both bad and good, happened.
1) Failed DSA -checked
2) Mishap in class -checked

BUT it is always good to be FORWARD-LOOKING. Forget those unhappy stuff because life is too short and I am not going to waste it by dwelling in the past :D

Hmm, I got my new specs after like 2years and I think its quite nice.

Have you people wondered how the rise in GST may affect us?
